KDF-CICA SCHOLARSHIP PARTNERSHIP 2024
May 2024 – The Karen Dale Foundation has continued to partner with the Caribbean International Cultural Association (CICA), to provide scholarships to graduating high school seniors in the Charlotte, NC area, who are of Caribbean descent, and plan on pursuing undergraduate degrees full-time. CICA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in the Charlotte, NC area.

From the Class of 2024, CICA selected 4 students for scholarship awards – Ciara Anderson, Gwen Straker, Jonathan Bushay, and Marley Hendricks.
​
Through our Education and Literacy program, our selection criteria also require that these students pursue a degree in the Health Care, Medical, or related fields. Based on this requirement, the Karen Dale Foundation selected the following student as our 2024 KDF-CICA Scholar:

Jonathan Bushay:

Caribbean Heritage – Jamaica & St. Vincent & The Grenadines
-
High School – Panther Creek High School
-
College/University – Virginia Tech University
-
College & Career Aspiration – Major in Neuroscience with the goal of becoming a Clinical Neurologist.
​​
Jonathan was awarded $1,000.00, which is in addition to the award he will be receiving from CICA.​
The Karen Dale Foundation wishes all the Scholars much success. As they expand their knowledge in their chosen fields of study, we challenge them to find ways to utilize what they have learned to help make a difference in their local and Caribbean communities, especially the Island of their heritage.

We encourage all the Scholars to reach out to the organizations that support them and find ways of giving back and helping the organizations advance their vision and mission.​​​​
This year, CICA celebrated their 25th anniversary, “United in Service to the Charlotte Community and the Caribbean Community Worldwide”.
It was an honor to attend their Scholarship Awards Dinner and Dance in person, where we caught up with one of our 2023 Scholars, Laylah Eckstine.
